Chocolate!
What kind of chocolate you ask? I’m thinking the HUman kind. Hu first started in 2012 in NYC as a high-end restaurant and market; back then they were known as ‘Hu Kitchen.’ Their vegan and paleo-friendly chocolate bars were a hit, and eventually started to sell in the natural retail channel. The purpose-led lifestyle brand, with a mission of, “Get Back to Human,” has expanded beyond chocolate and into new segments – baking, snacking chocolate, and grain-free crackers. Along the way, the brand has stayed true to its core values of unbeatable taste with unmatched simplicity. Mondelez recently acquired the brand and plans to support Hu’s growth through its distribution network, while allowing the company to maintain its entrepreneurial spirit by operating as a separate business. Here’s to Hu’s mission and its brand extending across America.

Cookies!
Cookies that are allergy-friendly and taste yummm – they do exist! Enjoy Life is a tasty brand that makes snacks free of 14 common allergens. It’s no surprise more snack options are becoming prevalent in the “free from” category. FARE (Food Allergy Research & Education) found that 1 in 4 people in the US avoid foods with one of the top 8 allergens. Today I’d like to highlight Partake Foods, which is a Black-owned vegan snack business founded by Denise Woodard in 2016. Partake makes plant-based, gluten-free, low-sugar, dairy-free, vegan cookies that are free of the top 8 allergens. What’s great is that Partake Foods recently closed a $4.8 million Series A funding round to help fuel its expansion. So, I invite you to partake in some HUman chocolate cookies. Instead of an allergic reaction, you’ll have a taste bud reaction!
