PepsiCo
Is a Rockstar
Who doesn’t want to be a rockstar? Well in this situation, PepsiCo took it to the next level and is acquiring Rockstar Energy for $3.85 billion as a way for them to immediately gain presence in the energy drink category, a consumer segment that continues to grow. PepsiCo isn’t foreign to Rockstar Energy, since they’ve had distribution agreements since 2009, but this acquisition accelerates PepsiCo’s stance within the energy drink space. Per Mintel, total energy drink and energy shot sales in the U.S. rose 29.8% from 2013 to 2018, with sales last year totaling $13.5 billion. Folks are joining the energy revolution. Are you?
Let’s Stay On Trend
Let’s Get Lupii
Last week I reported on lupini beans as being an ingredient to watch out for this year. It’s like I planned this or something (which I did not), but Lupii, the brainchild of former PepsiCo exec Alexandra Dempster and entrepreneur Isabelle Steichen, are bringing lupini beans to the US market in snack bites format! This bean is the only keto-approved bean out there; lupini beans are high in protein, high in fiber, super low in carbohydrates, sustainable, and yet are still fairly unknown in the U.S. I don’t know about you, but I’ve bean waiting for this!
Yours Truly,
