The FruitGuys are making big strides in living out their mission statement to have a meaningful impact on the community. Since 1998, when the company was born, they’ve strived to help grow healthy companies and better people’s lives by providing healthy food choices in workplaces across the country. So how do they do this? They focus on four pillars: Clients, Farmers, Donations and Grants.

As a company that aims to give back, The FruitGuys combat hunger with weekly donations through a program of theirs called GoodWorks. To date, they have donated more than 14 million servings of fresh fruit to local charities across the county to provide fresh, healthy food to those who don’t normally have access to it, as well as donating over 100,000 servings of food to victims and first responders of natural disasters. Additionally, they focus on a zero-waste policy, committing that all extra and “ugly” fruit be donated rather than reselling it to retailers. Clients have also made their own impact on their local communities buy donating over 260,000 servings of fruit since just 2009 and volunteering over 200 hours as part of The FruitGuys Community Fund’s Annual Grant Review Committee.

“Working with The FruitGuys has always been an honest, fair, and two-way relationship.”

Torrey Olsen, farmer, Gabriel Farm, Sebastopol, CA. Partner since 2003

The FruitGuys work directly with US farmers and food producers, totaling to over 200 small farms and suppliers, to give clients the best and freshest products possible. Of their farm partners they’ve worked with 75 percent of them for five or more years – proving the quality of their relationships and the standard of their business model.  In addition, they offer grants that support local, small family farms in the United States through The FruitGuys Community Fund, their nonprofit organization. In the last 8 years their community fund has awarded $275,000 to support small American farms and help sustainable agriculture projects.
