Green Makeover
With Aluminum
I chat about sustainability all the time, and this week it’s time to give a shout-out to Coca-Cola, who recently committed to a green makeover for its Dasani brand. The future for Dasani includes aluminum cans and bottles, “How2Recycle” labels, hybrid bottles with 50% recycled plastic and plant-based material, and less overall plastic in its current bottles. In the next 11 years, Coca-Cola will make its bottles and cans from at least 50% recycled material, and by 2030, Coca-Cola pledged to collect and recycle the equivalent of every bottle or can it sells. They have also removed themselves from the Plastics Industry Association, a lobbying group that no longer jived with their environmental goals. Innovation + sustainability, what a marvelous equation! Although these items aren’t available now, they’re headed our way in the future!
Everyday
I’m Smilin’!
A smile is a universal language.
Last year Frito-Lay ran a Smiles campaign, and this year they’re bringing it back with 31 U.S. consumers, many of whom work with advocacy groups or volunteer in their communities, whose smiles and stories are featured on ‘Smiles’ potato chips. Frito-Lay will also donate up to $1M to Operation Smile, which is a nonprofit organization that performs facial reconstruction surgeries for children in 80+ countries. Just ordinary people doing extraordinary things in their communities – now that’s something to smile about! Share your smile – hashtag #SmilewithLays.
Yours Truly,
