Meet Sean
Isn’t it funny how we always seem to end up right where we are supposed to be? This week, I had the opportunity to sit down with Operations Manager Sean, whose career in coffee has spanned from farm to consumer – out clients! I was fascinated to learn what has gotten Sean to this point and how his experiences in ARS’s flagship offering help create an inspired experience.
I caught Sean after covering for an RSR who was out that day. Acts like these tell you a lot about our Operations Managers’ ability to balance leading the teams that drive our exemplary service standards, which many times means getting their hands dirty.
“Coffee, and refreshments as a category, is interesting in that it is never turned away at the front door. ”
“I love Operations because of days like this when I can be involved. We get a piece of deliveries, sales, and service and then bring them together as one. I am a big believer in understanding the bigger picture and always voice that to my teams. When one of us is out we understand where we can step up.” Sean’s beliefs allows him to always help his team get where they are supposed to be.
Sean’s team also has the unique opportunity to work with someone who has seen just about everything in the coffee industry. “Coffee, and refreshments as a category, is interesting in that it is never turned away at the front door. People enjoy it right away and I have over 15 years of experience from roasting, to espresso bars, to warehousing, to purchasing. With that you begin to understand customer varieties. Some people enjoy your basic cup to wake them up, while others can get down to the nitty gritty like origin, oils, and flavor notes. We have to be on our game and speak the lingo.” As a coffee fanatic myself, I could have picked Sean’s brain all day.
This week, share your passions with those around you. You never know where it will lead you, and them.
LOOKING AHEAD: Whether your passion is coffee, tea, food, a computer program, or public speaking, nothing beats sharing those passions with others. There is no greater feeling than seeing someone else find enjoyment and value in things we value.
